“Don’t take it personally – Positive side of Criticism”

It is always a movement of joy with friends when everyone is cracking jokes and making fun of each other but sometimes one can take some jokes personally! Also, when our teachers or seniors tell us about what we have done wrong or what better can we do one can always

misunderstand such feedback or pointers but it’s not always necessary to take it as it is said.

Criticism is the construction of judgement about someone or something’s shortcomings, or it can be simply one’s disapproval of someone or something. However, when used properly it can be a powerful tool for personal and professional growth. It can help someone identify their areas of weakness and suggest clear paths for growth. Even research suggests that giving and receiving constructive criticism during the learning process has a significant impact. Also, it is important to remember that receiving feedback is not a reflection of your worth as a person.

The ways through which constructive aspects of criticism can help us:

  • Possibility for improvement: Criticism might assist you in determining how you can enhance your abilities or behaviours. You can identify your blind spots and get precise advice on how to fix things by receiving constructive criticism.
  • Different viewpoints: Criticism can give you viewpoints on a subject or problem that you may not have previously considered. You’ll be able to gain a broader perspective and make wiser decisions because of this.
  • Growth-promoting: Criticism can inspire you to pursue growth and development. Instead of becoming disappointed or defensive in response to critique, it’s critical to view it as an opportunity to grow.
  • Increases resiliency: Being the target of criticism might make you tougher and more resilient. It can help you learn how to effectively respond to critical criticism and help you gain the emotional intelligence necessary to deal with challenging circumstances.
  • It demonstrates concern: When someone takes the time to offer you feedback, it demonstrates their concern for your success and want to see you develop. Building relationships and strengthening connections with people can be possible during this time.

Just keep in mind that while receiving criticism is not always pleasant, it can be a crucial step in your career and personal growth. Accept criticism as a chance to improve yourself by learning from it and developing. Sometimes changing the lens to view different perspectives can help us unblock our roadblocks and reach our true potentials.

So, managing criticism constructively/positively can always help one to be a better person. Consequently, let’s have a broader look at where we can get better and remember
