For anyone who needs to work and be productive:
Disclaimer: Just a reminder since we have heard this on many video and conference calls this week. There is absolutely NO need to apologize for the background noise or the dogs or kids who run into your lap during a call. In fact, if you’ve made it to the call that’s a miracle.
- There’s no need to feel guilty about not being at your best, just be the best that you can at that moment – whatever that is.
- More than ever – focus on only what matters and prioritize across every area of your life. This will get better, we will all be stronger after this, and the best way I’m getting through this is to look for a couple things I’m truly grateful for every day.
- Segregate your areas of leisure, work and rest: if you don’t do it then, there is high chances of you not being able to concentrate, or sleep! Because your sleep place is taken by work and work place is taken by reading place. By mixing up the places, you would never be able to do one thing straight. Designate a Work area Designate a work area in your home which is you should be a place you know you can focus. Keep it tidy. Stock it up with work essentials like water, pens, and writing materials.
- Set boundaries and make a to-do list: using of checklist and to-do task list to keep a track of your finished and unfinished tasks.
- Don’t fall into the trap of the dangerous delay mindset…instead move to a transition mindset. We’re all relearning how to do our daily work – as we juggle work & life like never before.
- Eat the bigger and uglier frog first! To ensure that procrastination does not happen.
- We are seeing a tendency to put off what’s being considered the harder, more collaborative, work until you are back in the office with your team. That can be dangerous since we don’t know how long this situation is going to last & some of that work might be mission critical.
- Use a transitioning mindset. Consider what should be transitioned from offline work into online work. It’ll require you to be creative w/ how you facilitate & how you execute.
- Schedule breaks and have lunch away from your desk. This is one of the most important tips as you will need a change in environment throughout the day.
- Get some fresh air, even if it’s for 10 minutes go for a brisk walk (try do this once a day.
- Make use of video conferencing/calls to keep in regular contact with your team.
- Cut out distractions: Keep your phone away, check it only in breaks. Keep only 1 tab open at a time. Figure out what distracts you & commit to cutting it out.
- Dress & groom like it’s an office day. You’ll feel more “on” and alert.
- Sometimes just randomly call team members to check how they are doing and release the positive energy you have!
- Also, prioritize! Delay low priority projects. Help teams focus on what’s most important as they also care for their families. But, ensure you’re delaying because it’s low priority work, not just because it might seem too hard to do it remotely.
- EXERCISE! BREATHE! MEDIATATE! EAT HEALTHY
- Work from home does not mean work all day, so it is important to set deadlines and timelines to start and finish your work
- Take care of your mental health! Thus use technology only for getting the work done but also to get close to your family and friends.
- It is time for the half read book, rusting guitar, dried paints, empty pots for plants and all your forgotten hobbies to come to live now!
- It is time for all the innovative business ideas to come on paper and excel sheet, to take shape and launch itself, because this is the break that you will never get!
